Artist Bio: Terry Joy
In 1981, Terry Joy graduated from high school with a plan to study architecture the following fall. But when he was offered a summer position at a local monument company, his plans and life changed forever.
His job for the summer was to render proposed memorial designs for clients. A simple job, but one that lead him to his intense passion for creating personalized memorials for the families of those who have passed. To this day, his love for the memorial art form and serving others has only grown stronger.
Over the years, Terry’s memorial design work has presented him with several awards. From the American Institute of Commemorative Art and the Barre Granite Association he’s won multiple first place awards for Companion Monument, first place for Individual Monument, first place for Marker, and second place for Family Monument. In addition, Terry won the 2000 and 2011 Eugene Faehnle Design Award, and has been an instructor at both the American Institute of Commemorative Art and Elberton Granite Association - Memorial Design School.
Today, Terry continues his passion for quality memorial design by working closely with families to design and craft monuments that are a perfect reflection of the life they represent.
